Women’s Month Drive Collects 8,350+ Hygiene Items for JFS Food Pantry

The JFS Food Pantry is a one-stop shop for members of our community who need assistance grocery shopping for their families. The Food Pantry offers more than just groceries; it features a selection of personal hygiene items, ranging from newborn diapers to salon hair products. Our food pantry regularly receives donations of hygiene products from individual community members, schools, and corporate sponsors throughout the year.

These types of items are not available in most food pantries and are not subsidized by programs such as WIC, SNAP, and Medicaid. This is a serious issue that our community faces, as 1 in 4 Texas teens have missed school due to a lack of access to sanitary supplies. This issue affects our community more than we realize, and someone you know has likely struggled to afford these items.

This March, in honor of Women’s Month, we held a Feminine Hygiene Drive, campaigning for donations of all period hygiene products. Together, we were able to collect over 8,350 hygiene items that JFS will distribute to our Food Pantry shoppers at no cost! On behalf of the entire community and our staff, we would like to thank you for your contributions to the 2024 Feminine Hygiene Drive!

Look out for more ways to participate in the coming months, including our 14th annual Diaper Shower this August and September!
