Full-time Positions:

 

Truck Driver/ Mover 

Reports to: Donation Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Department: The Resale Shop

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Pickup donations utilizing Resale Shop box trucks, and deliver to the Resale shop
  • Safely and efficiently remove donated items from homes and businesses onto the trucks to be offloaded at the Resale Shop
  • Ensure that each donor receives outstanding service, which includes:
  1. Greeting each donor with a friendly smile upon arrival
  2. Thanking each donor at least 2 times for their donation
  3. Giving each donor a packet of information which includes the donation receipt
  4. Immediate follow up with Donations Manager if something did not go according to plan (Customer complaint, miscommunication, etc.)
  5. Careful treatment of donors’ property
  • Keep trucks well maintained and clean, and fill out truck maintenance forms once a week
  • Keep track of all gas and maintenance receipts and submit to the Donations Manager in a timely manner
  • Report any truck maintenance issues to the Donation Manager immediately
  • Adhere to criteria for donated materials
  • Follow the runs as given by the Donations Manager, and be flexible with any changes given from them
  • Adhere to proper lifting techniques
  • Work amicably and communicate well with assigned partner
  • Must maintain a clean and safe driving record on personal and company time
  • Anything else designated by the Donations Manager or Store Manager

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and move up to 75 lbs
  • Ability to stand, squat, bend, climb stairs, and climb in and out of truck cab and boxregularly during an 8 hour day
  • Ability to work outside in all types of weather, including heat, cold, and rain

General Requirements:

Assistant Truck Driver/ Mover

Reports to: Donation Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Department: The Resale Shop

Requirements:

On time to work, presentable appearance, show initiative, honesty, drug free, dependabletransportation to work, adhere to schedule and hours, positive attitude,  customer service oriented, goodinterpersonal skills and strong verbal communication skills also required. Clear criminal history.

Maintenance Technician/Donations Receiver

Reports to: Office Manager/Resale Shop Manager

FLSA Status: Hourly, FULL TIME

Department: Administration

Position Summary:  The Maintenance Technician/Resale Shop Assistant will be responsible for providing routine maintenance, as needed repairs and light cleaning for the agency facilities and grounds.  The individual will provide support to the administrative department and building security. As Resale Shop assistant, this individual is responsible for accepting and appropriately handling donations while providing outstanding customer service to every donor and assisting as needed with the Resale Shop.  This position supports, promotes and furthers our goal of providing the highest standards of culturally relevant and sensitive professional service consistent with our mission.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

A. Routine Facility Maintenance

  • Routine facility safety checks
  • Check the condition of the walls, floors, and ceilings. Look for signs of deterioration such as peeling/chipping paint or carpet tears. Check for signs of moisture or mold.
  • Look for signs of leaks
  • Ensure that the faucets and toilets are in good condition and operating properly.
  • Ensure all doors are functional and weather tight; no obstructions should be blocking any of the exits
  • Inspect all light fixtures at regular intervals. Replace any burned out bulbs.
  • Inspect the condition of all stairs.
  • Inspect storage areas for any accumulation of trash or safety hazards.
  • Look for signs of insect infestation.
  • Check for any hazards (i.e. electrical, structural, mechanical) such as trip hazards.
  • Report any issues to the Office Manager

B. Resale Shop Responsibilities

    • Greets each donor with a friendly smile upon arrival
    • Thanks each donor at least two times for their donation
    • Gives each donor a donation receipt
    • Follows up with the store manager if something did not go according to the plan (customer complaint or miscommunication)
    • Treats donor property with utmost care and respect
    • Presorts and organizes donations received at JFS and prepares for pickup by store staff daily
    • Keeps storage POD clean, organized, secure and well maintained
    • Keeps food pantry clean, organized and well maintained
    • Manages paperwork and donation forms
    • Adheres to proper lifting techniques
    • Works amicably and communicates well with the truck driver and other store employees
    • Acts as a positive representative of JFS and stays up to date on information that should be shared with donors regarding the agency
    • Occasionally goes to Resale Shop to move furniture, gondolas, fixtures and other heavy items
    • Occasionally goes to Resale Shop to perform facility fixes and maintenance projects

C. As Needed Repairs and Tasks – JFS Main Office Facilities and Resale Shop

  • As assigned by the Office Manager
    • Includes hanging pictures, bulletin boards and dry erase boards
    • Report any repairs needing an outside vendor to administration

D. Light Cleaning Duties – JFS Main Office Facilities

  • Maintain kitchens and common areas during the workday
  • Vacuum as needed
  • Restock kitchen supplies as needed

E. Other

    • Keep an Inventory of Custodial closet supplies (paper goods and cleaning supplies)
    • Any maintenance or repair tasks assigned by Office Manager that do not require outside vendor assistance
    • Any additional tasks requested by Resale Shop Manager and coordinated with Office Manager

Qualifications:

  • Basic plumbing, carpentry and grounds keeping experience
  • Familiarity with basic safety protocols for general repair work
  • Familiarity with hand tools and power tools needed for routine repairs to facility
  • Bilingual preferred
  • Interpersonal skills to interact with staff, volunteers and vendors
  • Attention to detail to ensure that all jobs are completed in an exemplary manner and any potential hazards or warning signs of problems are not overlooked
  • Physical stamina to handle required repairs
  • Ability to lift 35 pounds unassisted.
  • Be present at meetings both at office and offsite as needed
  • Communicate through written or dictated material.
  • Possesses excellent customer service attitude at all times
  • Ability to work outside in all types of weather, including heat, cold and rain
  • Ability to move in and out of a storage POD regularly

Part-time Positions:

 

Cashier /Sales Associate/ Sorter

Reports to: The Resale Shop Manager

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

Department: The Resale Shop

General Description:

Provides service through the timely and accurate processing of customer transactions; provides general clericaland customer service support in the collection, verification and balancing of cash and credit receipts; provideseffective and efficient accounting and revenue receipt support as assigned; provides professional, effective and efficient assistance to customers. Receives daily direction from the Store Manager or other managers. Providesspecial assistance to the Store Manager, Donations Manager, and Sales Associates as required for the properfunctioning of their positions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Greet and assist customers; answer questions and provide information as needed.
  • Collect and process customer transactions (credit, cash, etc.); assist in sorting and balancing receipts and payments; encode payments with proper accounting category; verify account information as requested.
  • Prepare and record information for the computer system including closing receipts and balances, accountpayments, and cash receipts and balances.
  • Prepare and balance cash register receipts daily with manager; prepare cash drawer for next shift.
  • Accurately verify merchandise quantities, descriptions, and costs.
  • Screen and direct phone calls and visitors as appropriate; answer questions and provide information to thepublic, including assistance regarding billing and payment schedules and pick-ups; refer customercomplaints and questions to appropriate department or staff member for resolution.
  • Provide clerical support to assist designated staff in the completion of his/her duties and responsibilities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Our Hanger/Sorter Associate supports the Resale Shop Mission by removing garments from containers, determine if garments meet sales floor criteria, and hang saleable garments on appropriate hangers. They will place garments on rolling racks per established guidelines and transport racks to store floor. You must be able to meet production goals. Light lifting, carrying, reaching, pushing and pulling is required, as is substantial standing.

Minimum Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Six months experience in cash management,
  • Demonstrated experience in a customer relations setting.
  • Knowledge of proper public contact and telephone etiquette.
  • Pleasant speaking voice and articulation.
  • Ability to effectively  present  information  and  tactfully  respond  to  questions  from managers, clients,customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to flexibly adapt to a variety of work situations and interruptions.
  • Ability to work independently in the absence of supervision.
  • Ability to make correct change.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course ofwork.
  • Able to lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Valid Texas driver’s license and operational vehicle.
