  1. Food Pantry Stockers — As we anticipate an increase in food pantry clients this week, we need to ensure our shelves are fully stocked.
  2. Kosher Home Delivered Meals Drivers — Our homebound clients that receive these meals each week are still counting on us to deliver. With several of our volunteers impacted by the storm, we need fill-in drivers in order to make all of these deliveries.

Dallas County Update:

Jewish Family Service of Greater Dallas is a member organization of the Dallas County -Volunteer Organizations Aiding in Disaster (VOAD).  As a member agency, we receive updates from the Dallas County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and their recommended response from our organizations in the time of a disaster.  As of the most recent report from the VOAD and Dallas EOC, they have indicated the following:

  • Public Works is currently working around the clock to clean up debris in the right-of-way but anticipates clean up will take approximately 2 weeks.  Please call 311 or visit DallasCityHall.com if you encounter debris in rights-of-way or downed trees.
  • Many streets are still dangerous and impassable. They recommend staying off the streets in the affected areas. Street closures can be found on the City’s website at bit.ly/stormstreetclosures
  • In the interest of safety, the Dallas Police Department urges residents in the areas heavily impacted remain indoors from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. from today through Thursday.
  • If you know of someone who needs help, have them call 911 if injured or 211 if they need information on resources.
