Congregations Come Together for JFS High Holiday Food Drive, Donating Over 5,000 Pounds of Food

The Jewish High Holidays—Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Sukkot, and Simchat Torah— typically fall between September and October. Each year, congregations, schools, and community centers across Dallas participate in the JFS High Holiday Food Drive, setting up collection boxes for food donations to support the JFS Food Pantry. This year, a total of 5,261 pounds of food was generously donated by Congregation Anshai Torah, Congregation Beth Torah, Congregation Adat Chaverim, Congregation Kol Ami, Congregation Shearith Israel, and Ann & Nate Levine Academy.

These contributions included unopened and unexpired shelf-stable items such as cereal, canned goods, pasta, cake mix, juice, hygiene items like shampoo and hand soap, and even household essentials like can openers and aluminum foil. A team of 20 volunteers assisted in inventorying, organizing, and stocking the shelves with all of the donations, making them readily available at no cost to those in need in our community.

We thank to all the participating communities for their continued support of the High Holiday Food Drive, and to each generous donor and volunteer who helped make a difference this year!
