Behavioral Health Counseling & Therapy

We provide behavioral health counseling to support and empower individuals as they address a variety of emotional and personal challenges. Therapy services are available through individual, family, couple, or group counseling.

Counseling & Therapy for All Ages

These services aim to help community members of all ages who are experiencing a life transition, personal crisis, or mental health challenge.

  • Individual Counseling

Through one-on-one counseling, we help people identify and understand their feelings and develop skills and behaviors around challenges related to trauma, emotional distress, relational issues, and life changes.

  • Couples Counseling

Our licensed professionals help build stronger relationships by identifying concerns, improving communication, and resolving conflict.

  • Family Counseling

Our licensed professionals help build stronger families by improving communication and relationships. We also offer specific services to help strengthen the parent/child relationship, whether learning to parent young children or addressing issues related to adult children with aging parents.

  • Family Violence Counseling and Intervention

We help individuals or families coping with emotional, physical, or sexual abuse reach physical and emotional safety. Learn more about our Family Violence Services.

  • Care Management

For adults whose needs are best met by a care manager to coordinate services, the care manager will assess needs, abilities, and resources; develop a plan for support, including external referrals if necessary; and monitor progress.

  • Mental Health Addiction Counseling

JFS offers comprehensive dual diagnosis services to adults as an adjunct support in their recovery from addiction, including substance abuse and dependence, sexual addiction, gambling, and other addictive behaviors on a case-by-case basis.

  • Children & Teen Counseling

Therapeutic services that address emotional, behavioral, and developmental issues for children and teens. This includes depression, anxiety, and mood disorders, difficulties adjusting to new or unexpected situations, conflicts in interpersonal relationships with parents, teachers, siblings, or peers, additional challenges faced by those with special needs, and/or the commonly shared challenges of growing up.

  • People Living Active Now (PLAN)

A supportive community for adults living with severe and persistent mental illness, offering social connection, skill-building, and meaningful daily structure.

  • Off-Site Counseling & Assessment

JFS Dallas is dedicated to expanding access to care by meeting individuals and families where they are. Through partnerships with schools and organizations across the Dallas metroplex, we provide off-site counseling and assessment services that make mental health support more accessible to children, teens, and families in familiar and trusted settings.

  • Children’s Play Therapy

Available for children ages 3 to 12, play therapy helps young children express their feelings, process experiences, and build healthy coping skills through play—the language they know best. Guided by trained therapists, play provides a safe and supportive space for children to explore emotions, strengthen communication, and develop problem-solving skills.
