The Volunteer Engagement Manager will recruit, train, schedule, and supervise all volunteers for The Legacy Willow Bend for The Legacy Senior Communities volunteer program working in partnership with The Legacy Midtown Park Volunteer Engagement Manager. Additionally, they will coordinate volunteer activities with lifestyle coordinators, staff, managers, and directors as warranted. Responsibilities include but are not limited to recruiting volunteers, planning, developing, implementing volunteer activities, and initiating new and innovative activities and community service programs to enrich the lives of the residents at The Legacy communities while assuring that Legacy provides good customer service as well as meets the spiritual and cultural needs and expectations of its residents and their families and the Jewish community and Legacy Willow Bend.
- Consults with supervisor, managers, directors, and appropriate staff to understand operational needs of the organization so that the volunteer program can help meet those identified needs.
- Interviews, screens, assesses skills, and refers applicants to assignments that will make the best use of individual talents.
- Educate volunteers about who we are and the services we provide.
- Orient and train volunteers prior to assignment or activity.
- Supervise and monitor the performance of volunteers.
- Serve as a liaison between administration, staff, and volunteers.
- Expand the volunteer program.
- Develop a volunteer recognition program.
- Schedule and coordinate volunteer recognition and appreciation events.
- Assist the Rabbi in recruiting volunteers and/or clergy for Jewish religious programming and services including Shabbat and High Holiday Services.
- Make appropriate connections between volunteers and fund development.
Educational Requirements and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in volunteer management/coordinator position or experience in a related field.
- Understand the role and needs of volunteers in a not-for-profit setting.
- Familiar with legal aspects of a volunteer program as well as HIPAA regulations.
- Recognize the potential benefits of an interactive and vibrant program.
- Interview for effective selection of volunteer candidates.
- Communicates in a friendly and informative manner with people from a wide variety of cultural and ethnic backgrounds and lifestyles.
- Successfully identify program needs.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills; Make effective presentations.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to deal with a diverse range of people.
- Ability to inspire and motivate others.
- A flexible and positive attitude.
- Good problem solver and responsive to the changing needs of the volunteer.
- Effectively use computers and program related software proficiently.
- Ability to maintain records and produce clear written and oral reports; maintain volunteer database.
