Program Specialist I #S04387P – University of Texas at Dallas

The Program Specialist will report to the Neuroscience Department Head in the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences. The incumbent will perform a wide range of work in different capacities providing support for our distinguished researchers and special research programs. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, supporting the research activity of designated researchers and advanced administrative support for the new Enhancing NeuroScience Undergraduate Research Experience (ENSURE) program, an intensive year-round undergraduate research curriculum (

The ENSURE program aims to support students from underrepresented ethnic or racial groups, first generation college students, students with disabilities, and/or low-income students to receive the financial, educational, and professional assistance needed to successfully apply to post-graduate training in research and biomedical fields. Undergraduate fellows complete limited coursework, extensive professional development, and deep neuroscience research over the course of two academic years (including summers).
  • Oversee and handle general office duties and administrative tasks independently, including special projects.
  • Coordinate domestic/international travel and submit travel expense reports for faculty, staff, students, and guest speakers.
  • Submit purchase orders and business reimbursements.
  • Reconcile One Card expenses and submit report statements for approval.
  • Track expenses and complete monthly account reconciliations timely for accuracy and validity with sound financial business practices and appropriate internal controls.
  • Meet multiple deadlines, exercise initiative and judgment over non-routine administrative tasks, prioritize, and foster good working relationships.
  • Assure compliance with university policies and procedures, particularly related to financials, travel, and procurement.


Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field, with a minimum of four years of experience in program/project development or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
