Environment & Development Planner II – North Central Texas Council of Governments

The purpose of this position is to assist more senior professional staff in the completion of projects and assignments related to the Department of Environment & Development, and to serve as project coordinator for assigned projects and/or primary contact for assigned committees. This will be accomplished through activities including, but not limited to:

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Coordinating, planning and preparing materials for meetings
  • Conducting research
  • Creating maps and databases
  • Reviewing and revising documents
  • Collecting and analyzing environmental, development, energy, and demographic data
  • Compiling and summarizing studies
  • Program planning and development
  • Monitoring schedules of deliverables and grant/project budgets
  • Grant and report writing
  • Writing reports and compiling documents for publishing
  • Preparing public outreach and education materials, presentations, and supporting external meetings
  • Coordinating with local government members, federal, state, and local partners
  • Attending meetings and representing the Agency within and beyond the region

Required Skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Geographic Information Systems (GIS) skills, desired
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines
  • Presenting and communicating to internal and external groups
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to operate Windows-based computer programs such as Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Access

Required Experience

Bachelor’s degree and 1-3 years related work experience
