Communications Specialist II – North Central Texas Council of Governments 

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Supporting the development of Transportation Department publications and communication materials by writing, designing, and distributing newsletters, reports, presentations, and brochures
  • Working with Transportation Department staff to design and publish materials and contributing to the development and implementation of a consistent look to department educational materials
  • Contributing to efforts to incorporate innovation into community outreach initiatives
  • Serving as a Transportation Department representative by attending committee and public meetings, events, seminars, workshops, and conferences to obtain relevant information
  • Assisting the Transportation Department public information officer with media-related activities such as handling external media requests and writing press releases
  • Conducting and distributing to staff a daily search of transportation-related news
  • Updating Web pages by drafting, organizing, and posting information on the Web site, and regularly reviewing information to ensure current and accurate information is available

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher, and Outlook
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail oriented, highly organized, and creative, with an ability to manage multiple assignments/tasks and work well in a deadline-driven environment without diminishing quality of work
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Required Education and Experience

  • Work requires broad knowledge in a general professional or technical field, which is normally acquired through four years of college resulting in a Bachelor’s degree. Relevant fields of study would include public relations, communications, journalism, marketing or a related field of study
  • At least one year of job-related experience

Starting Salary Range

Minimum of $51,874.00 – $62,248.80 annually
